Preparing your homeowners for Media Day

The old saying, “A picture is worth a thousand word” still rings true today. But today, a professional “picture” can also potentially add a couple of thousand dollars to your listing and help the listing sell faster.

Showing a new listing in its best light is a given. But homeowners live in there home everyday, day in and day out…

In the Kitchen: Homeowners will not see their home as the listing. They will straighten up their items on the countertops. Make sure their tea kettle and toaster are turned “just so” and their dishtowel is folded and centred on the oven door. It will look great to them, everything neat and tide but to myself, as the photographer, it is still just clutter.

Have your homeowner remove everything off of their counters. Stuff gadgets in closets, in the cupboards, or even in the basement if that is an option. Remove the dishtowel from the oven door, no matter how nicely it is folded, it still looks like a dirty towel.

In the Living Room: TV remotes, newspapers, books and magazines, Kleenex boxes, their trusty ole’ blanket all can be stored away for the photos.
